Avocado Toast with Honey and Red Pepper Flakes

Ingredients

  • 1 avocado peeled, pitted and chopped
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • Pinch sea salt
  • 2 slices sourdough bread toasted
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mash the avocado with fork tines. Add lemon juice and salt. Mix well. Spread half of the avocado mixture on each slice of toasted bread.
  • Drizzle honey over the tops, followed by a sprinkling of red pepper flakes.

Notes

  • Hot, spicy honey is a great replacement for regular honey to spice things up even more and give your morning avo toast a kick. Hot pepper jelly or jalapeno jelly also work great on their own or mixed with the honey.
  • Black pepper, cayenne pepper, or even hot sauce can be used as a replacement for or along with the red pepper flakes.
  • When spreading the mashed avocado over the bread slices, place a heaping pile in the center of the piece of bread and spread from the center all the way to the outer edges to ensure even distribution.
