Servings: 2
- 1 avocado peeled, pitted and chopped
- 1/2 tsp lemon juice
- Pinch sea salt
- 2 slices sourdough bread toasted
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
In a small bowl, mash the avocado with fork tines. Add lemon juice and salt. Mix well. Spread half of the avocado mixture on each slice of toasted bread.
Drizzle honey over the tops, followed by a sprinkling of red pepper flakes.
- Hot, spicy honey is a great replacement for regular honey to spice things up even more and give your morning avo toast a kick. Hot pepper jelly or jalapeno jelly also work great on their own or mixed with the honey.
- Black pepper, cayenne pepper, or even hot sauce can be used as a replacement for or along with the red pepper flakes.
- When spreading the mashed avocado over the bread slices, place a heaping pile in the center of the piece of bread and spread from the center all the way to the outer edges to ensure even distribution.
- Once an avocado has been opened, it’s only good for a few days. See tips below on how to keep avocado fresh longer.
- If you have leftover avocado toast, add lunch meat and turn it into a sandwich.
