- 2 lbs ground pork
- 1/4 cup real maple syrup
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Combine all ingredients (minus olive oil) in a large mixing bowl. Mix well. Form 3-inch patties using your hands and place on a plate or a piece of parchment paper.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium to medium-high heat.
Add the patties to the hot pan in a single layer (you’ll have to do this in batches).
Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until patties are golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to measure the temp, as it should read 165 degrees F.
- Try subbing smoked paprika for the regular to get a smokier flavor.
- Play around with the seasonings if you like. Try adding some fresh herbs like ground sage, Italian seasoning, or crushed fennel seed in the mix.
- You can use mild or spicy ground pork.
- Add spice to the sausage mixture by adding red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, or use a spicy maple syrup or hot honey.
