Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground pork
  • 1/4 cup real maple syrup
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients (minus olive oil) in a large mixing bowl. Mix well. Form 3-inch patties using your hands and place on a plate or a piece of parchment paper.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium to medium-high heat.
  • Add the patties to the hot pan in a single layer (you’ll have to do this in batches).
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until patties are golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to measure the temp, as it should read 165 degrees F.

Notes

  • Try subbing smoked paprika for the regular to get a smokier flavor.
  • Play around with the seasonings if you like. Try adding some fresh herbs like ground sage, Italian seasoning, or crushed fennel seed in the mix.
  • You can use mild or spicy ground pork.
  • Add spice to the sausage mixture by adding red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, or use a spicy maple syrup or hot honey.
