Recipe Ingredients
Greek yogurt - Eliminate as much sugar as possible by using plain Greek yogurt. If you don't mind adding a touch of sugar to your breakfast, use different flavors of yogurt such as honey or vanilla Greek yogurt.
Feel free to alter amounts used for both yogurt and granola.
Granola - Use whichever of granola you like best. There are many varieties to choose from, including crunchy granola, granola with added sugar and varieties with less sugar.
If you're looking for a gluten free breakfast, be sure to purchase gluten-free granola as some varieties contain gluten.
Fresh berries - The toppings that taste great with yogurt and granola are endless, but my favorite toppings are berries! You just can't go wrong with fresh blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries or mulberries.
Sweetener - A drizzle of honey is my preferred sweetener for this delicious breakfast, but other good options include maple syrup or agave nectar.
Prep Yogurt Bowls Ahead of Time
- Rinse berries you might be using ahead of time.
- Or prepare the entire bowl the night before. Store in mason jars in the fridge.

Benefits of Granola and Yogurt
The biggest benefits of enjoying a bowl of granola and yogurt is the boost of protein, calcium and fiber you get in a single serving.
An added benefit is consuming good bacteria that promotes gut health.
Can You Freeze Greek Yogurt
Many dairy products separate during the freezing process and become grainy once thawed. Greek yogurt freezes better than most dairy products and retains much of its creaminess.
Freeze for up to 3 months in an airtight container for best results. Once thawed, give the mixture a good stir and watch it return to its original creamy texture!
Greek Yogurt Substitute
For the purposes of mixing with granola and fruit and enjoying as a healthy breakfast, creamy Greek yogurt can be substituted with a few different ingredients:
- Plain yogurt
- Cottage cheese
- Heavy cream
- Mashed Bananas
How To Make Granola
Make your own granola minus the preservatives! Kids and adults alike love this homemade breakfast treat or snack that is more delicious than a store bought version.
