Simplify your morning by making these indulgent cake mix chocolate muffins! Only a few minutes of your time and 4 ingredients are required to make this super easy recipe. Add a bit of fun to breakfast this week!
Why I Love This Recipe
You might be learning by now that I'm all over anything that is ridiculously easy to make in the kitchen. If it's hard or takes a lot of time, I pass. I value my time and always aim to maximize "me time" as well as family time.
This is why I love these totally indulgent cake mix chocolate muffins and here are a few additional reasons:
- Occasionally it is fun to watch my boys' eyes light up (even when they're teens!) when I serve them chocolate for breakfast.
- The centers of the muffins are the most dreamy thing you'll see all week.
- These chocolate chunk muffins can definitely be confused with their cousin, the cupcake, which I consider a massive win. Serve for breakfast, after-school snacks and dinner dessert.
- Four ingredients, just a few minutes of my precious time, and these muffins are born.
- This chocolate muffin recipe makes a great canvas for adding extras! See some delicious options below.
- Cake mix recipes are my favorite. Really, everything you need is built right into that magical little box from the grocery store.
- A large mixing bowl and a wooden spoon are all you need to get started. No hand mixer required!
Recipe Ingredients
Chocolate cake mix - Use regular chocolate cake mix or devil's food cake mix.
Hot fudge sauce - This is the magic ingredient and the thing that will make people swoon after they have taken a bite. The hot fudge sauce adds a touch of dreamy, chocolatey magic.
Nutella or prepared chocolate pudding can be used in place of hot fudge sauce in equal amounts.
Eggs - There's no need to set your eggs out at room temperature before preparing these muffins. Grab them from the fridge and crack right into your mixing bowl.
Chocolate chunks - I love the chunkiness this ingredient adds, but feel free to use any form of chocolate chips such as semi-sweet chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips or mini chips.
Optional mix-ins - Add up to 1 cup total extra of any of the following ingredients: chocolate chips, coconut flakes or dried cranberries.
