Why I Love This Recipe
I heard about Snoop Dogg's new cook book From Crook to Cook and as a huge fan, I knew I had to check out a few recipes from inside tha boss dogg's kitchen. I'm in love with this billionaire bacon recipe (thanks, Snoop!) and here are few things I love about it:
- It's the best bacon and such an easy-peasy recipe! Just a few ingredients and a handful of minutes of your time are required.
- This is such a great way to add unique flavor to bacon. Dress it up to impress!
- It might as well be called bacon candy. If you love candy and you love breakfast meat, you'll be all in.
- This candied bacon recipe produces such a sugary, spicy and crispy bacon that everyone will love!
- If you love spicy food, this is a nice spicy treat to start your day!
- These should definitely not be limited to breakfast. Serve as a fancy side dish at a dinner party!
Recipe Ingredients
Brown sugar - Light brown sugar or dark brown sugar can be used interchangeably in this recipe.
Crushed red pepper flakes - A little bit goes a long way! Increase the amount used for an extra spicy recipe.
Black pepper - Use freshly ground black pepper and you can definitely cater the amount used to your liking
Bacon - Ten strips of thick cut bacon works best for this recipe. Use a flavored variety, if you'd like!
How To Make Billionaire Bacon
Step 1
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, red pepper flakes and pepper.
Step 2
Sprinkle the sugar mixture evenly over both sides of the slices of bacon. Arrange each piece of bacon in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
Step 3
Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 15-17 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes. Use a paper towel to remove excess bacon grease from cooked bacon slices. Transfer to a serving plate and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
- Once your billionaire's bacon comes out of the oven, use tongs to transfer the cooked slices to a wire rack or cooling rack, or allow to cool right there in the pan. Either way, let sit for at least 10 minutes.
- Maple syrup or honey can replace a portion of the sugar, if desired.
- The bacon will stick to aluminum foil, so use parchment paper instead.
- Billionaires bacon can get extra sticky after the bacon cools. Spray your parchment with cooking spray prior to baking to avoid sticky issues!
- Large baking sheets such as this sheet pan are an absolute necessity for recipes like this one! You'll want all slices to fit on the pan without overlapping.
- This is one of my new favorite ways to enjoy bacon in the morning! I mean, sugar, spicy and meat? Yes, please!
- Create billionaire bacon twists by twisting the strips before putting them in the oven. Fun!
- Add extra spice by including cayenne pepper in the brown sugar mixture.
How To Reheat Bacon in the Microwave
You can easily reheat bacon in the microwave by placing it on a microwave-safe plate and covering it loosely with a couple paper towels. Cook on high heat in 30-second intervals until heated through.
Use a dry paper towel to dab away excess grease before serving.
How To Store Leftover Bacon
Allow bacon to cool completely to room temperature, then place in a resealable bag or airtight container. Store in the fridge for up to 5 days for best results.
